The Lee’s Summit High School Golden Guard has placed first in all four competitions this season. Last weekend they won the championships at the Mid Continent Color Guard Association (MCCGA) in Scholastic AA. As well they were the highest scoring guard out of 30.

Winterguard is an indoor sport, which is timed and scored by professional judges. The judging is based on the over all theme of the show, technique of equipment, body movement and design.

Lee’s Summit High School was in Regional A during the 2016 season, but they got promoted at the end of the season to Scholastic AA. They received gold for their firefly show.

Their coaches are Laura Finch, Abby Bishop and Shawn Gridine. This year we had the help of 3 outside people. Additional assistance was provided by Zachary Barber, a nationally known choreographer and former Drum Corps International performer and John Sullivan, the color guard coach for the Missouri State University Colorguard teams.
