Executives representing leading Lee’s Summit companies shared insight into doing business in Lee’s Summit at the 2019 State of the Summit presented by the Lee’s Summit Economic Development Council in the month of March.

Panelists reflected the diversity of the Lee’s Summit business community, from healthcare to manufacturing to the federal government and included:

Rob Cowan, Director, National Benefits Center, part of the US Department of Homeland Security

Mark Edwards, CFO/COO, Bennett Packaging of Kansas City, Inc.

Susie Krug, Chief Nursing Officer, Saint Luke’s East Hospital

Aileen Wilkins, Vice President of People and Culture, G.E.H.A.

Each company represented is in the process of expanding either facilities, equipment, business lines, or local workforce. The discussion was moderated by Eric Mann, business development manager of Emery Sapp & Sons, Inc. Emery Sapp served as title sponsor of the sold-out event.

Prevailing themes included the ease of doing business in Lee’s Summit, strong workforce, and award-winning education and training collaborations.

At the meeting’s conclusion, LSEDC President and CEO Rick McDowell announced the promotion of Tina Chace to Director of Business Development. Tina previously led operations and marketing for LSEDC.

Held at The Stanley in Downtown Lee’s Summit, the State of the Summit is an annual LSEDC event.
