Lee’s Summit, MO – May 7th, 2019 – On 5/7/2019 at approximately 6:00 a.m. officers were called to a local hospital on the report of a gunshot wound.  In speaking with the victim officers were able to determine that the shooting took place inside a home in the 100 block of NW Chipman.  Officers responded to the residence and established containment around the home; believing that the suspect was still inside and armed,  a large perimeter was established around the home.

Vehicle traffic was diverted along NW Chipman Road and the department’s Emergency Services Squad responded to the scene; contact was made with the school district transportation office and buses were rerouted around the affected area.

After several hours of negotiations, the suspect surrendered to Police and Detectives were able to begin processing the scene for evidence.

The victim’s injuries are listed as serious but non-life-threatening.  The investigation into the shooting is on-going at this time.
