Lee’s Summit West students in Mrs. Stacie Myers IB Psychology class and Wesley Wiskur’s Technology Education Association of Missouri (T.E.A.M.) Club joined together to help support some of our less fortunate men and women who have served us in uniform and that for many reasons have become displaced, homeless and living without basic health items each day.

These students began a campaign to collect health and comfort items such as toothpaste, brushes, combs, soap, female hygiene products, shampoo and more throughout the second semester. They separated and placed $3500 of products into baggies, creating hygiene kits designed for men and women. The students also took the time to hand write personal notes and place them into each of the care packages thanking and expressing their gratitude for their service. The students wrote over 100 thank you notes to our displaced veterans.

The care packages were then delivered to the local Veterans Community Project in Kansas City (VCP-KC). This organization helps our displaced veterans. The Veterans Community Project is responsible for many programs such as building the Tiny Home Community and providing assistance to help these brave men and women with necessities.
