Donnie Funk has proudly announced his candidacy for Lee’s Summit City Council, District 4. “Community and business experience, sound judgment, accountability, and a spirit of cooperation are the skills and values I bring to the table. It was an easy decision to jump into this race. There’s never been a better time for me,” Donnie stated.

Born and raised in the Kansas City/Raytown area, Donnie moved to Lee’s Summit in 1988. He is married to Holly and has two sons, Keegan (21) and Wyatt (18). Donnie is the President of Selective Construction Services, LLC, a full-service demolition company, where he strategically plans and leads a team of 18 through complete demolition projects. He sits on the Lee’s Summit Planning Commission, the Community Economic Development Committee, has been a part of the Historical Preservation Committee and is a graduate of the Lee’s Summit Citizens Leadership Academy.

Donnie believes his service to the community, coupled with his experience in the building and development sector, will benefit the city well. “I have a keen understanding when it comes to development proposals, and I know the right questions to ask. There has to be a balance. The health, safety and general welfare of the community should always be considered first.”

The April 2020 Election brings with it potential bond issues and the opportunity for voters to drastically change the dynamics of the LSR-7 Board of Education and the City Council. “I didn’t see any reason to wait to announce my candidacy. I love this town, and I want to ensure it continues working toward progress. Growth comes with its challenges, but great leaders work to relieve the burden on the general population and advocate for their constituency. I have the skills and expertise needed to move this community forward in a positive direction.”
