Just eight games into his rookie season Defenseman Zach Osburn has already helped the Mavericks on and off the ice. Osburn got his first professional point with an assist in the Mavs loss to Wichita last Sunday. Away from the ice Osburn has more than just a few fun tales to tell his teammates and Mavs fans.

Ozzy as his new teammates now call him quickly admits his favorite pro sports team is the Washington Nationals who won the 2019 World Series. Zach enjoys cheering on the Nationals whenever he can because of his brother in law, National outfielder Adam Eaton. Eaton married Osburn’s older sister Katie back in 2012.

Ozzy’s hometown is Plymouth, Michigan where his mom, dad and two sisters root him on from home. Of course ONE big brother in law does too from our nation’s capitol. Zach’s favorite hockey memory so far happened while in college at Michigan State. The memory happened when the Spartans played at Minnesota and on their senior night Zach scored the winning goal as part of a shoot out.

Ozzy’s favorite website to visit daily is “Snap chat”. If not in pro hockey today Osburn says he would be working for his dad as a front end loader in his hometown. Seafood serves as his favorite food. Following his playing days Ozzy wants his teammates to view him as a hard working guy.

Another fun tale for Osburn to talk about occurred when he went to school at Michigan State where the Spartans men’s basketball program takes center stage. The well-respected head coach Tom Izzo put Osburn in a playful head lock on his campus visit.

Check out Osburn and the rest of the Mavericks when they host rival Wichita Thunder on Monday, Nov. 11. The special Veterans Day evening game begins when the puck drops at 6:05 p.m. inside the Silverstein Eye Centers Arena.
