A new member of the Kansas City Mavericks providing some veteran leadership to the 2019-20 team is Forward Michael Parks. Parks is currently in his fifth season playing pro hockey and second playing in the ECHL. Parks is back playing in the United States after spending the past two years playing in Europe.

Parksy as his new teammates call him is not only back in the United States playing hockey, but in his home state of Missouri. Parks hails from St. Louis where his mom, dad and an older sister root him on from home. Given this fact, it’s no surprise to hear his favorite pro sports teams are the NHL’s St. Louis Blues and MLB’s St. Louis Cardinals.

Parksy’s favorite hockey memory is playing in not one, but twice in the NCAA Frozen Four. While playing at North Dakota University, Parksy played in the 2014 event held in Philadelphia at the home of the Flyers. Then in 2015 he played in the event again this time played at the home of the Boston Bruins.

Parks first pair of skates put on at age five and his favorite website to visit daily is nhl.com. If not in pro hockey today he would be pursuing something in his college degree area. Parksy got a Bachelor’s degree in Communications. Parks favorite foods are pasta and Mexican.

Parksy’s favorite sports movie is the football theme “Friday Night Lights.” Following his playing days he wishes to be remembered as a really good teammate and someone you want on your team. Parksy attended CBC High School in St. Louis for three years before finishing his high school days while playing USHL hockey for Cedar Rapids in Iowa.

Check out Parks and the rest of the Mavericks on Tuesday, Nov. 19 when they host the Allen Americans in their annual School Day Game. The fun inside the Silverstein Eye Centers Arena begins when the puck drops at 10:35 a.m.
