Lee’s Summit Elementary student, Emerson Daugherty, has been awarded the Elaine Long Award. This prestigious award is given to only one LSE sixth grade student each year. It is awarded to a student that is positive, kind, and hard-working.

Emerson was selected with input of the entire staff. Emerson is a leader among his peers. He is kind and caring to all that he meets. His inclusive attitude and his attention to academics make him a sixth grade super star. LSE is proud to celebrate Emerson.

LSE has benefited from the partnership with the Shepard Center for almost a decade. The award was established to annually recognize one student that both exhibits a strong character and that work hard in class. Patricia Sword, the chairperson for the center presented Emerson with the award on Nov. 25th. The Shepard Center members meet at the Lee’s Summit Christian Church on Mondays at 9:00 a.m. They meet together for fellowship, socialization, and a variety of programs.
