Martha Ellen (Warren) Clark

Martha Ellen (Warren) Clark left us on her 84th birthday, Friday, December 13, 2019. Born to Carl W. and Inez Marie Warren in Los Angeles, California, she led a full life with family she loved dearly.

Martha attended Mount Vernon (Missouri) schools and after graduation attended business college in Springfield, Missouri, where she sharpened an acumen for bookkeeping. Her first job was with Hoover Music in Springfield and she was working when she met the man she would marry. In 1956, she met the love of her life and had a first date for a movie and a hamburger with Logan “Junior” Clark. Martha and Junior were married August 25, 1957 and enjoyed 62 years together.

They became a family of three when son Michael was born and then were blessed when daughter Rhonda arrived to complete the family. They resided in Kansas City, Missouri until 1979 when they moved to Lee’s Summit, Missouri.

Martha continued her career in Kansas City, Missouri working until she retired in 1994 from Gateway Chemical Company where she was a bookkeeper for 20 years.

During retirement, she enjoyed time with her beloved Junior and Rhonda. She travelled to Hawaii twice, and the trip she enjoyed with Junior was the best trip they made together. Visiting Maui and the Big Island, Martha expressed her distaste for sand on her body. No one who knew her would be surprised as she was an immaculate housekeeper and dirt or grime never had a chance up against Martha. She and Junior attended numerous Pro Bull Riding championships and the Daytona 500. They enjoyed visits to Texas, Oklahoma as well as Arizona to see the Grand Canyon.

Martha is survived of the home by Junior and Rhonda; sisters-in-law Violet Jones, Margie Kilfoy and Peggy Jones; brother-in-law Glen Jones; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents, Carl and Inez Warren; her sister, Karen Clift; son Michael; and son-in-law David Kobel.

The family is thankful for the care Martha’s physicians, nurses and staff at St. Luke’s East provided.

Martha’s memorial service was Friday, December 20 at Summit Woods Baptist Church, 2501 SE Shenandoah Dr., Lee’s Summit, Missouri. Pastor Bret Capranica directed the service and it was followed by graveside prayers. Visitation with the family and luncheon followed the graveside service at the church.

The Clark family recommends memorials be directed to the church in Martha’s memory.
