A first year Maverick who likes to cheer all baseball season long for the Kansas City Royals, Forward Ryan Galt, is enjoying playing so close to them in this his first full season as a pro hockey player.

Galty as his new teammates call him scored his first career goal in a home game against Wichita on Friday, Dec. 6. Since then, Galt has earned another goal and two assists. After his college career ended in spring 2018, Galty did spend four games with the Utah Grizzlies of the ECHL

Galt is quick to admit his favorite pro sports team is the Kansas City Royals, this due to him being from Omaha and the Royals was the closest MLB team. Galty hails from Omaha, Nebraska where his parents, sister, a brother in law are all there rooting him on from home. In fact his parents root him on from their seats inside the SEC Arena where they have yet to miss a game this 2019-20 season.

Galt’s favorite hockey memory so far was when he was a freshman at University of Nebraska-Omaha, he was on hand to open a new rink in Omaha called Baxter Arena that now serves as the home of the UNO Mavericks. The arena also serves as home to concerts and an indoor football team.

Galty first put on a pair of skates at age five and his favorite website to visit daily is espn.com. Galt’s favorite sports movie is the baseball themed “Major League.” Following his playing days Galt wishes to be remembered as a reliable teammate. Galty says his “favorite part of the Kansas City area is the Country Club Plaza… especially this time of year with Christmas lights throughout the area.”

Check out Galt and the rest of the KC Mavericks when they wrap up a brief two-game home stand on Saturday, Dec. 21 against division rival Tulsa Oilers. The fun inside the Silverstein Eye Centers Arena begins when the puck drops at 7:05 p.m.
