The Missouri Department of Transportation announced this week that it has committed $8 million to improvements of Colbern Road in Lee’s Summit. The funds will be part of a cost-share program with the City of Lee’s Summit.

In total, MODOT’s Cost-Share program awarded $50 million to 20 communities throughout the state for the purpose of creating road and bridge projects that have the greatest economic benefit to the state.

“This is an exciting opportunity for Missouri to turn infrastructure investments into workforce investments,” Missouri Governor Mike Parson said in a statement. “The number of applications shows that these partnerships are not only of great interest but of great benefit to Missourians. It also highlights that many unfunded transportation needs remain in our state.”
