The Lee’s Summit Fire Department is holding a Recruitment Open House for qualified candidates interested in a career as a firefighter/paramedic. The open house is scheduled for Feb. 15, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Fire Headquarters, 207 SE Douglas St. During the event, personnel will be on hand to provide insight into the position, culture and benefits. Attendees will have an opportunity to tour the fire station and fill out applications on site. 

Among the minimum qualifications for the position, candidates must be 18 years of age at time of application, have a school diploma or certificate of equivalency, valid state drivers license and be in good physical condition. Candidates are required to have Fire Fighter I, Fire Fighter II, Hazardous Materials Awareness and Hazardous Materials Operations certifications. They must have licensure as a Missouri EMT-P or National Registry as a Paramedic. For a full list of position requirements and job benefits, visit LSpeople.net.

Applicants who successfully complete the testing and interview process are placed on an eligibility list for current and future open positions.  

The Fire Department is accredited by the Commission on Fire Accreditation International and is an ISO Class 2 department providing Fire Protection and EMS service to the sixth largest city in Missouri with a population of more than 98,600. Crews work a 48/96 hour shift.

Open house attendance is not required to apply. Applications can be submitted online or obtained from Human Resources at City Hall, 220 SE Green St. The application deadline is Feb. 20.
