Matt Baird

Lee’s Summit, Mo. – The Lee’s Summit Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors announced, today, Matt Baird will lead the organization as its new President. Baird has been an integral part of the Chamber staff for the past five years and has served in the role of interim President during the vacancy of the position.

A national search for the position began in November of 2019 under the guidance of a selection task force appointed by the Board of Directors. Many résumés were reviewed by the task force, followed by phone interviews, and final onsite interviews earlier this month.  The task force presented Baird as the recommendation to the board on Wednesday, February 19, where he was unanimously approved.

Baird joined the Chamber team as Director of Business and Governmental Relations in 2015, providing legislative advocacy and stewardship for local businesses within the Chamber’s membership. Prior to joining the Chamber, he served as the Practice Administrator for HCA Midwest Physicians and co-owned a successful residential and commercial real estate firm in Lee’s Summit. Throughout his career, Baird has garnered extensive experience to become a dedicated advocate for the growth of large and small businesses at the local, state and national levels.

Baird and his wife Jennifer, an attorney and partner with Lauber Municipal Law, have two children, Jackson and Emma. He is a dedicated family man that enjoys coaching his kids and attending each of their sporting events.

“We are thrilled to have Matt on board as the new President. Matt’s leadership style, established rapport with our members and staff, and his love for Lee’s Summit made him stand out as the right choice for this important role within our organization,” said Trisha Goodale, Chair of the Board. “He did a tremendous job as the interim President and we are excited to build upon that momentum as we start the next chapter for the Lee’s Summit Chamber of Commerce.”

Following the announcement, Baird said, “I am humbled and honored to be named the President of this outstanding organization. Having been an active citizen in Lee’s Summit over the last 16 years and a part of the Lee’s Summit Chamber as both an active member and staff person, I bring a unique experience to the position. I look forward to building upon the success this staff has worked so hard to accomplish, ensuring our members are represented and have a voice in this great community.”
