On Tuesday night February 11, the Kansas City Mavericks beat their rival Wichita Thunder 2-1 in front of their fans at the Silverstein Eye Centers arena. The game-winning goal came in the third period and was scored by Defenseman Marcus Crawford. New to the Mavericks this month, Crow as he is called by his new teammates, quickly became popular with Mavs fans thanks to plays like the one on Feb. 11.

Marcus is in his second year in pro hockey and in the ECHL. Last year he spent time with Toledo and even some of it with Grand Rapids in the AHL. Crow’s favorite pro sports team is the NHL’s Toronto Maple Leafs, this is due to them playing close to his home.

Crow’s hometown is Ajax, Ontario Canada, where is parents and one brother root him on from home. Marcus says his favorite hockey memory so far is just realizing his dream and playing pro hockey his rookie year. Crow first put on a pair of skates at age three. Marcus admit his favorite website to look at daily is Twitter.

If not in pro hockey today the talented right hander would be a firefighter mostly likely back in his hometown. Crow’s favorite sports movie is “Moneyball.” Following his playing days Marcus wishes to be remembered as a “good guy, someone who contributed a lot.” Since coming to Kansas City Crow says he is “enjoying the buzz around the city, seeing the Super Bowl excitement first hand.”

Check out Crawford and the rest of the Mavericks with the Kalamazoo Wings on Saturday, Feb. 29 on what is called Ag Barn Night. The fun inside the Silverstein Eye Centers Arena begins when the puck drops at 7:05 p.m.
