Metropolitan Community College closed at 4 p.m. today (Thursday, March 12), and will remain closed through the end of spring break on Sunday, March 22. Spring break had been scheduled to start Monday, March 16.

A member of the college community self-reported late this afternoon that they had been asked to self-quarantine due to potential exposure to the coronavirus, also known as COVID-19. MCC Chancellor Kimberly Beatty said the decision to close the campuses this afternoon was made “in an abundance of caution.” The closure applies to students as well as employees.

Because this is an evolving situation, the chancellor urged students and employees to look for future announcements by MCC email, text messages and social media.

Metropolitan Community College has five campuses, a robust online program and a location in St. Joseph.
