At about 6:09 a.m., today, July 3, 2020, an off-duty Raytown Police Officer was driving on Raytown Road and came upon an adult female who was fleeing from a black car, which was stopped in the road on Raytown Road, just north of 59 Street.

The officer, who was in his personal vehicle and not in uniform, allowed the female into his car to take her to Police Headquarters, which was only blocks away. As they began to drive to Police Headquarters, an adult male in the black car fired multiple shots into the officer’s car.

The suspect fled the scene. When the officer and the female arrived at Police Headquarters moments later, it was discovered that the female had been shot.

The Officer was not struck. The female was transported to an area hospital.

At about 6:54 a.m. today, Raytown Officers located the suspect at an address in Kansas City, Missouri, where he was taken into custody.

The investigation is ongoing.
