Lee’s Summit, Mo.— On Thursday, 7/30/2020 at approximately 5:30 p.m. emergency crews were called to the area of eastbound I-470 near the Pryor Rd / 50 Highway exit ramp on the report of a motor vehicle crash with injuries.

The call was upgraded to a shooting while officers were en route to
the scene. When officers arrived on scene they were able to determine that two vehicles had been involved in a road rage incident while traveling eastbound on I-470. As both vehicles were exiting onto 50 highway / Pryor Road the defendant pulled in front of the victim and braked hard; the victim was unable to stop on the wet pavement and rear ended the defendant and spun out to the shoulder of the
roadway.

The defendant then accelerated and rammed the driver’s side door of the victim’s vehicle.

While the victim was still in his vehicle, the defendant then fired several shots from a handgun into the victim’s vehicle. The victim suffered only minor injuries from the crash and a small graze wound from
a single round.

The defendant was taken into custody without incident. Detectives are working to gather statements and evidence and will present the case to the Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office for review in the morning.
