After being away from Arrowhead and their fans for the last two weeks, the Kansas City Chiefs return home to host the New York Jets. The Chiefs will face an AFC team for the seventh consecutive week to start the 2020 season. The Jets come to town as the only remaining winless team in the NFL with an 0-7 record.

The Chiefs begin a brief two game home stand on Sunday holding on to a 6-1 record and sitting in first place in the AFC West. Following the pair of home games, the Chiefs will enjoy their bye week for the 2020 season. Before then there is work to be done for the defending Super Bowl Champions as the saying goes “Any given Sunday” crazy things can and do happen in the NFL. The Jets are commonly referred to as “Just end the season” but the team will come to Kansas City and continue a season that has not been kind to them.

The Jets 0-7 record includes an 0-3 mark in their division, the AFC East. The team led by Head Coach Adam Gase is struggling on offense and it didn’t help when they waived unhappy RB Le’Veon Bell who originally was an expensive team addition. Now Gase and the Jets will face Bell who signed with the Chiefs after being let go in New York. Bell saw his first action as a Chief in the team’s road win at Denver last Sunday. The Jets will look for the first win on the year with QB Sam Darnold being the signal caller and veteran RB Frank Gore helping out. All-Pro Safety Bradley McDougald leads the Jets on Defense.

The Chiefs will take the field as heavy favorites to win again but will have to do it without some familiar faces. Once again starting OL Mitchell Schwartz and WR Sammy Watkins missed practices this week. Defensively S Armani Watts and DL Chris Jones are less than 100% but look like they will go by game time.

The Chiefs and Jets don’t play that often as indicated the series history now reaching just its 40th game. The Chiefs are tied with the Jets at 19-19-1 so far in that series which includes their last meeting a Chiefs 38-31 loss in the 2017 season.

NFL fans don’t need to look at the records to see that these two teams are not on an even talent level. Best thing for the Chiefs to do is take an early lead and give the Jets no hope of any chance for a come from behind win. Like many Chiefs fans, I feel the team is up to challenge of not having a letdown after winning a pair of road games. Last time the Chiefs left Arrowhead they had suffered a disappointing loss this time they leave feeling great and holding onto a 7-1 record. That’s What I REID Into It for this week.
