Lee’s Summit West at Nixa (Played on Saturday at 1pm) “Jake’s Take”
LS West enters this matchup at Nixa coming off a blowout win in the first round against Springfield Kickapoo. I think West will build on that dominant performance to continue their playoff run. I’m picking the Titans to win on the road, 35-21.
St. Michael’s at Butler
Every time the Guardians take the field they continue to impress everyone in the stands and create new records in school history. Now with a district playoff win behind them they go for another on the road at top seed Butler. St. Michael’s has enjoyed a memorable season but on this night it comes to an end.
Summit Christian at Oak Grove
A good one here in a meeting between the #3 seed at #2 seed in District playoffs. The Eagles move up to Class 3 and won a tough one last week against Pleasant Hill. The assignment this week is a tough one with having to beat the one loss Panthers on their home field. SCA Eagles come up short in this one ending the season at 7-4.
Raytown at Belton (Friday Night Lights Tour Stop)
A good one set to be played out in Cass County pitting the 7-3 Blue Jays against 8-1 Pirates. Raytown has gone on the road this season and beat Lee’s Summit so the bright lights in Belton won’t be an issue. However the Pirates have been a tough out all year only losing to Grain Valley. A close one here that the home team will win.
Joplin at Ray-Pec
In a weird set of circumstances it’s Joplin who had a bye week last week while top seed Ray-Pec went to work and won first round game vs Lee’s Summit. The Panthers, at 8-2, know how to put points on the board and will do it enough to win on this night.
Blue Springs at Liberty
A good one here with the Wildcats at 5-5 but much improved visit the 9-1 Blue Jays. Liberty has been very good all year long with only a setback to Ray-Pec. Blue Springs can put points up on the board but not enough to overtake the host Blue Jays.
Grandview at Center
Two old rivals meet up in a district semi-final round game. The host Yellowjackets had a bye week last week and lost a game to COVID earlier in the season. Center at 4-3 faces the Bulldogs who enter at 4-5 after putting up 53 points in a home win last week. Center will be the one with the most points when this one is done.
Pitt State at Mo. Western (MIAA Game of the week)
The abbreviated MIAA conference football schedule continues this week with Pitt State going up north to St. Joe for an afternoon 3 p.m. game. The Gorillas lost a tough one at home last week to Neb. Kearney but will use that experience to score a road win at the expense of the host Griffons.
Carolina Panthers at KC Chiefs
The Chiefs play host to an NFC team for the first time this season, a team they are unfamiliar with in the Carolina Panthers. Thanks to an offense led by the AFC offensive player of the week in Patrick Mahomes the Chiefs will find a familiar result this week, a win on their home field.
