If you need a warm meal for Thanksgiving, once again this year the Jack Ray VFW Auxiliary 5789, Downtown Lee’s Summit and Jack Ray Post 5789, VFW have got you covered.

The VFW Post is providing their annual free Thanksgiving meal. Due to the continued atmosphere and COVID concerns and restrictions, this year’s meal will be a call-in and curbside pickup event. The continued intention is to provide a free meal for veterans and Lee’s Summit community members who have no means or other plans for Thanksgiving.

They will serve, Thursday, Nov. 26, 202, from 12 noon until 4 p.m. or until the food is gone on a first come, first served basis. Orders can be placed by calling 816-524-8498 starting at 11:30 a.m. by providing a name, time of pickup and number of meals needed. Pick up is curbside at the Post located at 529 SE Douglas Street in Lee’s Summit.

The menu will consist of: ham, turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, sweet potatoes, hot roll, and dessert.
