It’s time for the Kansas City Chiefs to return home and a return to playing under the bright lights in a game played in prime time. The Chiefs take the field at Arrowhead Stadium for the first time since November 8 as they play host to AFC West Division rival Denver Broncos.

The Chiefs come home with a 10-1 record on the season after a road win at Tampa Bay 27-24 last week. The Chiefs sprinted out to a 17-0 first quarter lead before holding off a late Bucs rally to take the win. The visiting Broncos also played an NFC South Division team in the New Orleans Saints. Denver didn’t fare well though losing 31-3 to fall to 4-7 on the year. The first meeting this season between these two teams was played in Denver in late October and the Chiefs won easily 43-16. Since that meeting the Chiefs have taken charge of the division as they currently enjoy a four-game lead with just five games left in the regular season. With a win on Sunday and a Las Vegas Raiders loss the Chiefs can lay claim to another AFC West Division championship.

Things have been good, bad and a bit ugly lately for the Denver Broncos. The good was the team’s defense giving Miami rookie QB Tua Tagovailoa fits in a 20-13 win over the Dolphins. This ended a four-game winning streak for the team guided by the new franchise QB. Last week the Broncos defense limited the NFC South leading Saints to 290 yards in a loss. The bad was the team learning a day before their game against the Saints that all four QB’s would not play in the game due to COVID -19 precautions. The ugly was the result on offense as the Broncos only completed one pass en route to the one sided outcome. This week the Broncos get back all four QB’s on their roster including starter Drew Lock the former Lee’s Summit High School and Mizzou standout.

Thanks to a highlight reel of plays, the Chiefs were worth looking at by many NFL followers last week. This week the Chiefs are worth watching due to off the field interest. This week is the annual NFL’s My Cause/My Cleats event where players wear cleats to support an important charity to them. For example KC Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes will be showing support for his foundation 15 and the Mahomies.

It’s been said nearly every week how the Chiefs have made life difficult for their AFC West Division rivals for the last five years. Denver is no different as the Chiefs have won 10 in a row over the Broncos and now lead the series history between the two teams by a 66-53 count. The latest entry into this 60 year rivalry will be played in prime time where NBC’s crew of Al Michaels and Chris Collinsworth will be along to describe the action to the country.

Thankfully the Chiefs enter the month of December healthy, as only two players missed practice this week, only one was a starter. Still missing on the IR is starting OL Mitchell Schwartz. Having a healthy squad will help the Chiefs withstand the challenges they will face in this the final month of the regular season. This week’s home game is the last one before Christmas day for the Chiefs. No worries, the Chiefs will give their fans a holiday gift in the form of another home win in impressive fashion. No snow this time when the Chiefs the field and extend their winning streak against Denver. That’s What I REID Into It for this week.
