LEE’S SUMMIT, MO— On Sunday, December 27, 2020, at 3:25 p.m. the Lee’s Summit Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire in the 3700 Block of NE Chapel Drive.

Several callers reported fire coming the neighbor’s house. It was also reported the occupants of the house were not at home.

When the fire department arrived, heavy smoke and fire was coming from a one-story, single-family residence.

Firefighters attacked the fire in the well involved garage while crews searched the house to confirm no one was home.

The fire was knocked down in the garage and crews checked for fire spread to the attic and living area of the house.

The fire was under control by 3:35 p.m.

Fire damage was contained to the garage with heat and smoke damage throughout the rest of the house.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Missouri State Fire Marshal’s Office.
