A Grandview, MO, man faces charges for kidnapping and sexually assaulting victim before he’s apprehended following a standoff with police, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today.

Clinton R. Everhart, dob: 2/24/1974, faces two counts of Sodomy or Attempted Sodomy 1st Degree, Kidnapping, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm.*

According to court records filed today, the defendant, according to a witness’ statement to police on Jan. 4, 2020, shot a man inside a vehicle in Kansas City. The defendant participated in tying up a female victim inside the vehicle. She was transported from Independence with only the defendant in the vehicle and he took her to a Grandview residence in the 13600 block of Cypress. Inside, he injected her with drugs and sexually assaulted her. When police were called to the residence, the defendant failed to respond to police officers. A SWAT team located the defendant in a crawl space beneath the  residence. He had a rifle beside him.

Prosecutors requested a $100,000 cash bond for the defendant.

*Charges are only accusations and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until the defendant is either found guilty or has pleaded.
