Lee’s Summit CARES will offer three sessions of its popular Parenting the Love and Logic Way courses this spring, all in an instructor-led, engaging virtual environment. The five-week courses are taught by Kerri Gray, licensed marriage and family therapist and a long-time facilitator for Lee’s Summit CARES parenting courses. Cost for each course is $55 and includes the program manual. Scholarships are available for qualifying individuals.

Lee’s Summit CARES will offer two sessions of Parenting the Love and Logic Way, designed for families with children from elementary through high school. The first session will be from 7 to 8:15 p.m. Mondays, Jan. 18 through Feb. 15. The second session will be 7 to 8:15 p.m. Thursdays, April 15 through May 13. To ensure you receive course materials in advance, register for the first session by Jan. 13 and for the second session by April 12.

During this course, parents will receive tips, support and resources to help them navigate parenting in our changing world. Topics covered include teaching children problem-solving and critical thinking skills, building resilience, decreasing arguing and encouraging kids to listen the first time. Parents and caregivers will learn proven solutions to common behavioral challenges as well as how to encourage responsibility, maintain a positive relationship with children and defuse power struggles.

A course developed for parents of newborns through age 6, Love and Logic Magic for Early Childhood Made Fun! Will be from 7 to 8:15 p.m. Thursdays, Feb. 25 through March 25. Please register by Feb. 23 to ensure you receive course materials in time for the first class.

This class focuses on practical solutions to reduce the stress associated with parenting young children. Parents and caregivers will learn to discipline with love and patience, set effective limits for children and encourage them to be better listeners. In addition, the course provides proven strategies to address behavior issues such as arguing, whining, bedtime struggles and picky eaters.

Enrollment is limited to ensure an optimal learning environment via Zoom, so parents and other caregivers are encouraged to enroll as soon as possible by visiting lscares.org.
