The Lee’s Summit City Council supported an updated model for sidewalk gap prioritization following a recommendation from the Public Works Committee. A sidewalk gap is defined as a break in continuous sidewalk, missing sidewalk in an area that generally has sidewalk, or the absence of sidewalk where it’s required by standards.

Currently, more than $25 million in sidewalk gaps exist in Lee’s Summit. The updated model is based on factors such as age, connectivity, land use and sidewalk presence. All of those factors will provide a score to assess public demand and allow the City to prioritize sidewalk projects.
