The Jackson County Courthouse in downtown Kansas City, Historic Truman Courthouse in Independence and all County Parks + Rec facilities will be closed to the public for County operations on Tuesday, February 16, 2021 to conserve power during the extreme cold. All non-public safety departments have also been asked to work remotely.

Additionally, the Legislative meeting scheduled to be held tomorrow, February 16 has been rescheduled for Thursday, February 18 at 10:30 a.m. at the downtown courthouse. The Offices of the Legislature, including the Legislative Auditor and the County Clerk’s Office, will be working remotely on Tuesday, February 16 and Wednesday, February 17. The legislative offices will reopen at 8 a.m. on Thursday, February 18.

Residents who need to conduct business with the County are encouraged to go online at www.jacksongov.org. The County continues to monitor this winter weather event and will provide any additional updates on its website and social media platforms.
