March 24th, 1938 ~ February 13, 2021

Edith “Edie” Alice Hensley (Ford), 82, of Kansas City MO passed away peacefully on February 13th at NorthCare Hospice, North Kansas City, MO. 

She was the wife and soulmate of C. Duane Hensley. They shared 49 years of marriage together before his death in 2005.

Edie was born March 24th, 1938 near Reger, MO. She was the first daughter of Thomas George and Lorene Ford (Stephenson).

She was a 1955 graduate of Milan High School where she was Homecoming Queen and class secretary.  She often returned to the Milan Old Timers Reunion where she enjoyed visiting with her classmates and friends. Before her retirement she was employed at Truman Medical Center and worked as payroll manager.

Duane & Edie lived in many places over the years and loved to travel. They especially enjoyed going to their property at Truman Lake to spend time camping and boating with her family. Edie liked to socialize, and she attended many Red Hat Club and Milan Dinner Club events in Kansas City. She was passionate about entertaining and had excellent cooking and baking skills. Making birthday cakes and holiday dinners for her family was her joy. This led to a part-time catering business which she owned for several years. She also enjoyed scrapbooking. She was an avid sports fan and watched many Kansas City Chiefs, Missouri Tigers, and NCAA basketball games.

Edie was preceded in death by her husband, Duane; daughter, Denita Lynn Hawley; parents, Tom and Lorene Ford; father and mother-in-law, Claude and Gladys Hensley; sister, Molly Ford; and brothers, Jim and Monty Ford.

She is survived by her daughter, Tammie (Russell) Foster of Osage Beach, MO; sons, Marty (Julie) Hensley of Kansas City, MO and Tim (Amy) Hensley of Edmond, OK; nine grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren whom she loved and adored – Clinton (Brittny) Hawley; Stella, Edmond, and Rhys of St. Louis, MO; Nicole (Dustin) Jones, Ryan (Erin) Wright, Wade, Luke, and Rhys of Mesa, AZ; Kara (Blake) Wampler, Kenley and Harlow of Costa Mesa, CA; Phillip (Kristina) Hawley of Naches, WA; Brianna (Zack) Russell and Cassius of Austin, TX; Sidney Hensley of Kansas City, MO; Truman Hensley and Ian Hensley of Edmond, OK. She is also survived by her sister, Virginia Fields of Milan, MO; brother, Thomas “Junior” (Janet) Ford of Milan, MO; brother-in-law, Bruce (Melissa) Hensley of Kansas City, MO; sister-in-law, Charlotte Ford of Pontiac, IL; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
