The Lee’s Summit R-7 School District hosted a groundbreaking ceremony on May 5 to celebrate the commencement of Bond 2020 work at Lee’s Summit High School earlier this year.

Following 82.2% of voters approving the district’s $224 million no tax rate increase bond issue on June 2, 2020, multiple projects to benefit the LSR7 school community are well underway.

In collaboration with partners Gould Evans and JE Dunn Construction, the district has developed plans to transform the Lee’s Summit High School campus by the start of the 2023-24 school year.

And on Wednesday, LSR7 celebrated progress as promised for the bond project, which includes major additions connecting the campus with future-ready learning spaces, a new media center, comprehensive interior renovations and more at the district’s original high school. Project plans also call for a new LSHS baseball and softball complex at the site of the district’s new middle school on SE Bailey Road.

LSR7 is so grateful for the teams, partners and community members who helped and are helping to bring these plans to fruition. Visit LSR7.org/bond for more information on the LSHS project and other projects in the 2020 no tax rate increase bond issue.
