Some Medicare supplement plans and most Medicare advantage plans offer “Over the Counter” benefits, what does this mean?

Generally, Over the Counter (OTC) product coverage allows you to get a certain amount of over the counter pharmacy items for free. It may be monthly, quarterly depending on your plan. Often, you can order and have it delivered to your front door at no charge to you whatsoever, not even any added shipping charges.

Over the Counter products include, but are not limited to: allergy and sinus medications, bath safety equipment, braces, supports, heating pads, cold cough and flu medications, diabetic socks for circulation, diabetic lotions, digestive health, eye and ear care, feminine hygiene products, first aid products, foot care, health monitors and medication aids, incontinence pads, creams for rashes, oral care, pain relievers, skin and sun care, sleeping and snoring aids, smoking cessation, vitamins and supplements, and last but not least weight management. So we are talking Depends, Band-Aids, Tylenol, melatonin, toothbrushes, toothpaste, floss, denture creams, bath and shower seat. My own father told me this week that he got some Epsom salts in his last order and he used the salts on his tomatoes in his garden. I am not sure that was the intended use for that, but it certainly was a practical use for sure.

Plans can include anywhere from $60 to $300 per quarter, depending on your eligibility.

Feel free to ask your questions so that I can get you the answer you have been wondering about. Nobody will know that you asked the question except for me, it can be our little secret.

This week I wanted to ask you a question just for fun. What is the most amazing invention you have seen in your lifetime? And what made it so amazing?

Until next week stay safe and stay informed, and I hope you have a fantastic week.
