Randall Thompson’s “The Testament Of Freedom” was written during World War II for men’s chorus. The 18-minute work is a festive and rousing celebration of freedom and liberty.

Dr. William Baker and the music department of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Lee’s Summit is planning a 45-minute concert celebrating freedom and America’s heritage.

All male singers are invited to sing this grand work in the informal concert. There is no tuition. There will be free admission to the concert. There is no expectation of church affiliation or involvement. Summer Singers members are especially invited, but Summer Singers participation is not required.

The concert will be at the St. Paul’s Episcopal Church on Sunday, July 18, at 4 p.m. The full program will be about 45 minutes and will be followed by a reception for the audience with cookies, watermelon, lemonade and wine. (In other words, the perfect summer experience!)

Here is the schedule of sectionals and rehearsals. Attendance at sectional rehearsals is optional, but encouraged. Only the dress rehearsal and concert preparation are required, but all participants are asked to attend as many sectional rehearsals as possible to secure their own parts and/or help others.

Scores will be available to sign out at Tuesday’s Summer Singers rehearsal.
