We are “Rockin’ Around Downtown” with an evening filled with musical performances, a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus, and plenty of surprises. The festivities begin at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 19 on SE Main Street. Join your friends and family in Howard Station Park to celebrate the holiday season and see Mayor Bill Baird light Downtown in thousands of sparkling lights. Complimentary keepsake ornaments will be available for attendees while supplies last.

Codie Allen from 106.5 The Wolf will emcee the event, which features rockin’ musical performances from the Lee’s Summit Elementary Cougar Choir. Summit Theatre Group Studio member Taylor Robinson will share a rendition of “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas,” a special presentation from Summit Theatre Group’s upcoming show Cool Yule. The guests of honor, Santa & Mrs. Claus, will make their debut at 7 p.m. along with a few special friends from the North Pole.

Following the program, families are invited to stop by and see Santa & Mrs. Claus in the Live Window Display at Ivy & Sparrow until 8 p.m. Over a dozen shops will be open late for holiday shopping, and ten businesses will showcase Live Window Displays. Downtown Lee’s Summit will look brighter than ever this year, thanks to an animated holiday light display programmed by the Lee’s Summit High School Robotics Team, Team Driven. Rock on down to City Hall Plaza to see the light show through the first week of January.

The Mayor’s Tree Lighting is presented by Security Bank of Kansas City and hosted by Downtown Lee’s Summit Main Street and the City of Lee’s Summit. The event is made possible thanks to sponsors Aristocrat Motors, ReeceNichols of Lee’s Summit, and Saint Luke’s East Hospital.
