Saturday night, May 14 marks the first event of Raytown’s 2022 ‘Raytown Live’ concert series. The featured band is ‘Flashback’ playing a variety of music including Motown, Disco, Funk, Rhythm and Blues as well as party dance favorites.
“Bringing the community together and providing free, family-friendly entertainment events were the goals when our committee first came together in December 2017,” said Dave Thurman, a member of the Raytown Live organizing committee. “We focused on choosing a central Raytown location and providing quality entertainment and events which were completely funded by donations and sponsorships. We feel we’ve accomplished those goals.”
‘Raytown Live’ events take place from 7 to 9 p.m. on the second Saturday of the month from May through September on the Town Center Greenspace located at 62nd and Blue Ridge. Each event is free to the public and attendees are encouraged to bring their lawn chairs, blankets and coolers filled with their favorite food and beverages. For those who wish to purchase meals, food trucks will be onsite each month.
Featured performers for the remaining 2022 concerts are, June 11 – Oasis KC, July 9th – J.J. Johnson, August 13 – Johnny C and the Supermatics and September 10 – blues great and KC native, Nick Schnebelen. The September event will be held in conjunction with Raytown’s ‘Festival of the Trails’ celebration and begin at 6 p.m. Check out the website www.raytown.live for more information.
