The time has come for area high school golfers to hit the course one final time for the 2022 season. For those teams and individuals who qualified for the state tournament the two-day event in all classes 1 through 5 are set for next week. A number of qualifiers from the Lee’s Summit area will be competing for a state title. Results of last week’s district tournaments show how they got there.

In a Class 5 district tourney held at Adams Pointe in Blue Springs the LS West Titans finished second as a team. Individually, junior Josh Lumby tied for second place shooting a 77. Senior Adam Sauer tied for ninth place by shooting an 81. Elsewhere in the 16 team event Lee’s Summit finished 12th and LS North was 14th. Up next for the Titans is the Class 5 state tournament to be held May 16-17 at Dalhousie Country Club in Cape Girardeau, MO.

In a Class 2 district tourney St. Michael’s and Summit Christian competed at the Shirkey Golf course in Richmond, MO. The Guardians finished in third place as a team with Summit Christian not far behind in sixth place. The top local finisher was St. Michael’s Mark McNamara who claimed second place honors. Up next is the Class 2 state tournament which will take place at the Columbia Country Club in Columbia, MO. The two day event is set for May 16-17.
