Lee’s Summit North High School was host to a Wednesday morning ceremony where it was announced that senior Cayden Green of the Broncos football team has been named to the Under Armour All American Team. The game is set to be played on Jan. 3, 2023 in Orlando, Florida. Green is an offensive lineman and is committed to Oklahoma University next fall.

Lee’s Summit North boys basketball began the Ray Hughes era by playing three games in the 5th Annual Phog Allen Invitational held over the Dec. 1-3 weekend. The Broncos went 1-2 and finished in sixth place in games played at William Chrisman High School in Independence.

The 43rd Annual Winnetonka High School Girls Basketball Invitational was played during the week of Nov. 28- Dec. 2. Both Lee’s Summit and LS West began their 2022-23 seasons in the tournament. LS West is now 2-1 after finishing as the runner up with a loss in the title game to Grain Valley. Lee’s Summit Tigers are also 2-1 after earning a third place finish thanks to a 14 point win over North Kansas City.

The Grain Valley Wrestling Invitational saw several local high school wrestling teams in action. St. Michael’s finished in third place with 154 points. Event champions included LS West’s Kallen Koelzer at 106. St. Michael’s champions included Lucas Berry (132), Lucas Estes (150), Brodie Purtle (190) and Sampson Stilwell (285).

Lee’s Summit North wrestling enjoyed the results of a tri-meet held on Tuesday Dec. 6. The Broncos defeated Shawnee Mission South 77-0 and beat Olathe East 47-30. The Broncos now come home to host the Lee’s Summit North Invitational Dec. 9 and 10. A total of 14 teams coming from both Kansas and Missouri will be competing.
