St. Michael’s wrestling participated in the Platte County Invite on Saturday, Jan. 20. The Guardians finished third as a team. Only champion Hannibal and host Platte County fared better. Individually the Guardians saw four wrestlers finish second and at 285 Sampson Stilwell was the champion.

The LS West Titans boys basketball team completed a two-game visit to the Quincy (Illinois) Shootout on Saturday, Jan. 20 with a game against Peoria Richwoods. The Titans lost 61-58 and finished 1-1 at the shootout. The Titans returned home and met a familiar foe on Tuesday, Jan. 23 when they played at Liberty. The Titans defeated the Blue Jays 57-44 to move to 14-3 on the season.

The 27th Annual Alan Isom Wrestling Invitational was held at Center High School in South Kansas City. Summit Christian finished in fifth place and a JV team from Lee’s Summit North finished sixth. The Eagles left the event with four medalists. The Broncos came home with two medalists.

The LS West Titans girls basketball team hosted “Future Titans” Night when they were host to Jefferson City on Tuesday, Jan. 23. The current Titans won 43-38. The Titans are now 2-12 on the 23-24 season. The Titans are scheduled to spend the weekend on the road playing in the I-44 Tournament hosted by Lebanon High School.

The St. Michael’s girls basketball team began play in the Grain Valley Sonic Showdown on Tuesday, Jan. 23. First game for the Guardians was against host Grain Valley. The Guardians entered at 6-6 on the 23-24 season. The Guardians lost 81-59 with two more games left to play in the weeklong event.

The Summit Christian girls basketball team ventured to Clinton, MO for a week long tourney. The 46th annual event tipped off on Wednesday, Jan. 24 with the Eagles playing Pleasant Hill. The Eagles entered the event at 11-5 on the season. The Eagles won 53 – 37 over the Roosters. Later in the week the Eagles were to play Sedalia Smith-Cotton.

The Lee’s Summit Tigers girls basketball team played the Staley Falcons down to the final seconds of a game on Monday, Jan. 22. Tigers lost a tough one 54-52. The Tigers finished with three players in double figures and now stand at 10-6 on the season.

The Lee’s Summit North Broncos girls basketball team started the week with a home game against Park Hill on Monday, Jan. 22. The Broncos improved to 11-5 on the season after posting a 43-32 victory. The win was the 100th in first head coach Eleysia Dunn’s coaching career.

After spending the entire week Jan. 15-19 hosting the annual Summit Grill Shootout the Lee’s Summit Tigers boys basketball team remained at home on Tuesday, Jan. 23 to host the Staley Falcons. The Tigers lost 66-52. The Tigers are now 6 -9 on the 2023-24 season. Tigers remain at home to finish the week off with a courtwarming night game against rival LS West.
