All five Lee’s Summit area high schools will be represented at this week’s state boys wrestling tournament held in Columbia, MO. Upon a closer look, Lee’s Summit will be well represented thanks to 22 state qualifiers to the event.

Both Summit Christian and St. Michael’s competed for a state title first. The Class 1 and Class 2 boys state took place on Wednesday, Feb. 21 and Thursday, Feb. 22. The girls Class 1 tourney was held on the same days. Then the larger classes of Class 3 and 4 took over the mats inside Mizzou Arena starting on Friday morning Feb. 23 and going through Saturday night, Feb. 24. The girls Class 2 tourney will be held on the same days.

Summit Christian sent four qualifiers to the state event while the Guardians sent seven. The Eagles were represented by Matthias McGregor, Gabe Harris, Dakota Cobb and Jack Brownlee. The Guardians group consisted of Sampson Stilwell at 285, Brodie Purtle, Lucas Estes, Trevor Green, Lucas Berry, Parker Lutz and Landon Lane.

All three Lee’s Summit LSR7 schools are bringing to mid Missouri an impressive list of qualifiers. For LS North, they have three heading to Mizzou starting with Charlie Dykes. The Lee’s Summit Tigers have five of them going starting with Jackson Jones.
