On Wednesday, Aug. 21 when the Kansas City Royals series with the Los Angeles Angels ended the Royals had 35 games left to play in the 2024 regular season. With one look at the team schedule Royals fans can see the last regular season home game is just one month away. But will it be the last home game of the entire season?

Royals fans are excited by the team’s success so far this year and if the season ended today the Royals would qualify to play post-season games. The thought of baseball in October in Kansas City for the first time in nine years has many Royals fans counting down the days till they clinch a playoff spot.

For some fans they haven’t seen post-season baseball yet as Pedro Garcia of Kansas City, MO says, “I’ve never been to a playoff game.” Garcia feels if he does go he “would bring others with me.” Garcia adds, “I went to the 2015 World Series parade.” The Royals strong play so far this season is “very surprising” to Garcia who shares that feeling with many Royals fans.

Jayden Vosika of Kansas City, MO on having more games than currently scheduled, “It would be really cool to have everyone come back like in 2015.” The success the Royals are enjoying this season has Vosika feeling upbeat “never really doubted them, just takes some time to do what they are doing now.”

A season ticket holder since 1978 Tom Johnson of Liberty on the thought of more home games, “Be great, I’ve seen a lot of bad baseball and a lot of good baseball.” Johnson admits the team’s success so far “was not really expected.” Up to this point Johnson agrees he has “enjoyed a complete turnaround this season.”

For now the KC Royals are set to close out their home schedule on Sunday, Sept. 22 with an afternoon game against the San Francisco Giants. Pending some game results before then the Royals could be inviting fans back for some more baseball at Kaufman Stadium.
