In recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Jackson County will proudly host a solidarity walk at 11 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 7.
Community members are encouraged to wear pink and join associates of Jackson County, the City of Kansas City, MO and Truman Medical Centers in the fight for a cure.
Guest speakers include:
Crystal Williams – Jackson County Legislator & Breast Cancer Survivor
Paula Joyce – Breast Cancer Survivor with the American Cancer Society
Richard Sandoval – Director of Imaging Services, TMC Lakewood
Jennifer Fulton – Assistant System Director of Imaging Services, TMC Lakewood
Before the walk, participants can celebrate breast cancer survivors and remember those who lost their battle by signing a solidarity banner for $1. The funds raised will support the American Cancer Society. A mobile mammography bus will also be parked outside of the downtown courthouse from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for Jackson County associates and their spouses to obtain a life-saving scan.
On Monday, October 14, the mobile mammography bus will make a stop at the Historic Truman Courthouse in Independence for Jackson County associates and their spouses from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The solidarity walk is the second stop on the Pink Ribbon Road Show, a series of events held throughout the Kansas City area leading up to the Making Strides of Kansas City Walk on Saturday, Oct. 26.
