Jackson County Parks + Rec invites you to enjoy a day of fun for the entire family at its annual Independence Day event at Missouri Town on Monday, July 4th from 9:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Celebrate Independence Day the old-fashioned way at Missouri Town. Visitors of all ages will have the chance to make a newsprint hat and ribbon cockade, whitewash a fence, train for the militia, sing 19th century songs like the Star Spangled Banner, compete in hog calling and patriotic fashion contests, churn ice cream made from an original 1850s recipe and more. Living history interpreters will demonstrate trades and professions of the era, including blacksmithing, tinsmithing, cooking, shopkeeping and farming.

All are invited to march in the annual Independence Day parades at Noon and 3:30 p.m. Hot dogs and drinks will be available for cash-only purchase. It’s a Fourth of July celebration your family will never forget.

Admission is adults – $8, seniors (62 and older) – $4, children (5-13) – $4, and children 4 and under – Free. Missouri Town is located at 8010 East Park Road in Lee’s Summit.
