Submitted by Dr. Kamile Johnson

Dr. Kamile Johnson has filed candidacy for the Lee’s Summit Board of Education.

Kamile was born and raised in Philadelphia, PA and attended college at the University of Pittsburgh, where she was awarded magna cum laude honors while earning a bachelor of science in biology and a doctorate of pharmacy. Kamile is Vice President of Pharmacy Services at KC Care Health Center.
Kamile is an innovator, bringing specialty pharmacy to local non-profit health centers. She established a full-service in-house pharmacy off
ering patient assistance programs, medication therapy services, and established policies and procedures to increase access to medications for the uninsured and underinsured.

“My work as a pharmacist has provided me with an up-close look at many of the challenges facing children today. It’s important that our school district works collaboratively with families to curb public health concerns like teenage vaping, access to fentanyl and other illicit drugs, and embrace a holistic educational model that prioritizes the mental health of students and staff.”

Kamile currently manages a multi-million dollar operation and oversees numerous public health initiatives to address whole-person care for adults and children residing in Kansas City and surrounding metropolitan areas of western Missouri. Her daily workload consists of providing care to those with various conditions ranging from diabetes and HIV to mental health and substance use disorder.

Some of Kamile’s plans upon being elected to the LSR7 school board include providing students with alternatives to four-year colleges and universities, correcting veteran teacher pay discrepancies so that their pay reflects years of service to the district, ensuring certified and classified staff earn competitive wages, and improving communication between the school district and families.

Kamile also serves as an adjunct professor at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Pharmacy. She is a member of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists, the National Pharmaceutical Association, the American Academy of HIV Medicine, and the Midwest AIDS Training Education Center.

Kamile is the mother of two children, one of which is school aged and attends Lee’s Summit School District.
