The Native Sons and Daughters of Greater Kansas City dedicated an historical marker at Lake Lotawana on Saturday morning, Sept. 15.

The Native Sons and Daughters of Greater Kansas City is an 86-year-old organization founded in 1932.

Their mission is “To be dedicated to the historic preservation of the unique and rich heritage of the Greater Kansas City Metropolitan Area through education, advocacy and restoration.”

There are now over 60 upright markers and wall plaques in the Greater Kansas City area that have been placed in the last 50 years by the organization. The marker at Lake Lotawana is the first in southeast Jackson County.
