Area high school baseball fans will find some familiar faces should they make the short trip to Mid-Missouri for the annual Missouri High School Baseball Coaches Association Senior All-Star Games set to be played on Saturday, Jun. 8. There will be a total of three all-star games played that day at Southern Boone High School in Ashland, MO.
Selected to play in this year’s all-star event is St. Michael’s Jackson Barnes and Lee’s Summit’s Grant Sumrall. Three all-star games in all will be played on Saturday, Jun. 8. Class 1 and 2 all-star game set for 10 a.m. start. Then comes the Class 3 and 4 game at 1 p.m. The day ends with the Class 5 and 6 game at 4 p.m.
Jackson Barnes from St. Michael’s is a 5’10”, 160 lb. catcher/right-handed pitcher. Barnes played for a Guardians team who won the Class 4, District 14 title. Barnes helped lead the Guardians to a win in a sectional round game before their season ended in a quarterfinal loss to Benton. The Guardians finished the 2024 season at 16-13.
Lee’s Summit will be represented by Grant Sumrall at the MHSBCA Senior All-Star Game. Sumrall is a 6’0”, 175 lb. right-handed pitcher who also plays at shortstop and second base. The Tigers won the Class 6, District 7 title. Sumrall started the Tigers first round game and pitched a complete game in a big opening round win. The Tigers would go on to play Liberty North where the Tigers season ended in an 8-3 loss to the two-time defending state champions. The Tigers finished 2024 season at 24-16.
Both Barnes and Sumrall helped their high school teams win district championships this spring season and now both will attempt to win a game filled with all-stars from all over the Show-Me State.
