The Lee’s Summit Chamber of Commerce Education Committee awards five $1,000 scholarships each year to graduating high school seniors who have demonstrated a strong work ethic, commitment to community involvement, and endless pursuit of growth and improvement in all aspects of their lives.

One scholarship winner is selected from each of the three Lee’s Summit public high schools, one from a Lee’s Summit private high school, and one from a school outside the district. The scholarships must be used within the same year they are received.

Trades Scholarship
The Chamber, thanks to generous donors, will offer a Trades Scholarship for a qualifying high school senior in 2025.

Eligible areas of vocational training include the construction trades (plumbing, electrical, carpentry and HVAC technician), as well as the culinary arts, cosmetology, automotive technology, agriculture, landscaping, medical, and other certifications from an accredited institution or program.

  • Be pursuing a higher education degree from an accredited institution
  • Have a minimum 3.0 cumulative, unweighted GPA at 7th semester
  • Have at least one parent or guardian working for a company/organization that is a member in good standing of the Lee’s Summit Chamber or be a student working for a Chamber member

Interested students should submit a completed application that includes their resume and official transcript along with two 500-word essays answering the following questions:

  1. Who inspires you (besides someone in your family)? Include details about what you admire and why.
  2. Looking back, what advice would you give your high school freshman self, and why?
