The Historical Society of Lee’s Summit was incorporated 50 years ago in 1974. Over those years volunteers dedicated to preserving and sharing the stories of Lee’s Summit have continued to create and enhance exhibits in the History Museum.

In celebration of the first 50 years an open house is scheduled Sunday, Oct. 6 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the museum for members and guests.

October is also the final month to submit nominations for Legends of Lee’s Summit 2025 Honorees. You have until October 31st to submit your nominations.

Nomination categories and forms are available on the History Museum’s website www.leessummitmuseum.com. Paper copies are also available in the museum’s general store.

The History Museum is located at 220 SW Main Street in downtown Lee’s Summit. The museum is open Thursday and Friday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
