The Lee’s Summit Lion Club met at the Perkins restaurant in Lee’s Summit, MO on March 12, 2024 and at that meeting a visit from the district governor of 26M5 Ronald Ballard from the Pleasant Hill’s Lion club gave a update of what’s going on in the district.
He also presented chevron’s from Lions Club International to five Lion’s for lengths of membership in the Lion’s Club. A 25-year Chevron was presented to Kirby Vanatta also a 25 year to Lion Bill Hulse; 30-year to Michael Delacour (no longer in the club) 60 years to Lion Robert Hayter and a 65 year to Lion Ken Burnett (Passed away in August of 2023).
The Club currently has 10 members which includes two females. The Lion’s Club moneys raise through their 2-fund raising project goes 100 percent to Saving Sight, Kids sight; Leader Dog and LCIF (Lion Club International Foundation).
Their current projects include White Cane Day where the club members stand in front of the Hy-Vee store on 3rd & Ward and collect donation. The other project is the Annual Pancake Breakfast on the 23rd of March from 8-11am; held at the VFW post 5789 hall 329 SE Douglas Street in Lee’s Summit MO. Pancakes flipped by Chris Cakes cost $8 adults $5 child.
