A 45-year-old Lee’s Summit man has been charged in the double fatal shooting inside a Raytown apartment this morning, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today.
Clifton Jack, dob: 7/7/1973, faces two counts of Murder 1st Degree and two counts of Armed Criminal Action.*
According to court records filed today, the victims were the ex-girlfriend of the defendant and her boyfriend.
On Monday, police had responded to the residence on a disturbance. The calling party, Rita F. Moore, told police her ex-boyfriend, Clifton Jack, had caused a disturbance. But he left before police arrived.
A Raytown officer spoke to Jack by phone and he stated he wanted money back from Moore. Police advised her to get a court order requiring he stay away from her.
The next morning, the 19-year-old stepson of the defendant called police and reported the defendant had entered the residence and shot Moore, dob 4/8/1974, and her boyfriend, Rodney Brundige, dob: 2/13/1970.
The defendant then pointed a rifle at his chest and attempted to commit suicide.
Prosecutors requested a bond of $500,000.
*Charges are only accusations and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until the defendant is either found guilty or has pleaded.
