Letter to Editor

I agree with Merrian Hamaker that we should consider changing the name of Todd George Parkway. Mr. George was an outspoken racist and had little regard for people of color. If we are to select another name, it would be better to honor a person who lived and worked in Lee’s Summit. My choice would be Doc Bud Hertzog. In his work as a vet, he has treated everything from small dogs to a sick elephant at the KC Zoo. He has been active in business, school, and civic affairs, and has served as a Jackson County legislator.
