Dear Editor,

I would like to thank all of the candidates running for Mayor of Lee’s Summit. I admire them all for wanting to lead our city into the future.

I have, however, chosen to support Bill Baird in his candidacy.

Friends and neighbors have asked me, “Why are you supporting Bill?”

First, I worked as a real estate agent for 29 years in the Lee’s Summit area. Bill was, and remains, owner of Baird Group Real Estate, and it was a pleasure to work with him and I was always impressed how he treated all parties to the transactions. Second, I attended meetings and forums to hear the varying opinions of the candidates in which direction they want to see the city go. It became evident to me that Bill has clear priorities and goals and is ready to commit to support our city employees including Fire Fighters and Police Officers. Without this support, I don’t believe we will be able to attract and/or keep the best personnel in order to keep our growing city safe and secure. Third, Bill has been a strong advocate for our schools, a leader in many different entities, a successful business man, and a man who contributes toward the greater good of his community.
