Letter to the Editor ~ OPINION

Letter to Editor,
I was sexually abused as a child. So were three of my siblings. And I’m appalled that a credibly accused child molester, Rick Roeber, still insists on running for public office in the Lee’s Summit area.
I agree with the politicians, both Republican and Democrat, who have asked him to step down. They acknowledge that some wrongdoers can change. At the same time, however, they are right to stress that some offenses are so heinous and harmful that the offender should give up some privileges.
For the safety of kids and the healing of victims, Roeber should be rejected.
Child sex offenders are hard to stop. But it’s easy to prevent them from climbing the career ladder in politics and paying their salaries with our tax dollars.
