Local independent author, Jeff Berney, has found critical success as his second novel, “The Fall of Faith,” was recently named a Finalist in the National Indie Excellence® Book Awards.

The National Indie Excellence Book Awards were established in 2007 to recognize and celebrate the best of self- and independently published titles from around the globe.

Berney’s novel — a twisted and gritty domestic thriller about lust, love, faith and the debauchery of man — placed in this year’s thriller category.

“This is my darkest book yet,” Berney said. “It’s an exploration of how easy it is to be nudged off the path of common decency, righteousness and faith in ourselves and in one another.”
